There are a number of sites available just off I-84 on highway 201 right along the snake River. One of these in particular is right beside 2 Passport Americia campgrounds. They are first come first served but you can stay for 14 days

DIRECTIONS: In Prospect, OR, at intersection of Mill Creek Dr. and 1st. St., take Mill Creek Dr. north 0.3 miles to a “T” intersection. Turn right onto State Rt. 62 and go 9 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign and go 0.3 miles to campground on right. $6 per day The campground stretches along Rogue River for about 0.7 miles through a mixture of conifers including cedar and Douglas fir. This heavily wooded campground provides good privacy between campsites.

Turn left at sign and go 0.1 miles to campground. $10.00 Average Parking Apron Size: 12′ X 50′ The parking aprons are a combination of grass, gravel and dirt. Grey water disposal sites are scattered throughout campground.

Some sites large enough for my 38 ft. rig. Heavily wooded; small trout stream runs through it. Cost is $6/night The campground, pack it in, pack it out, stretches along the east bank of Mill Creek through a pleasant mix of Douglas fir, cedar and maple. Sounds of the creek can be heard throughout campground. Far enough from highway noise but close enough for transient campers, makes this campground a good overnight stop. Wide open spaces in this cg that’s inside the Summer Lake Wildlife Area. You bet there are lots of birds (& the errant Pronghorn Antelope. Bring your Deets – the mosquitoes like to think they own this place certain times of the year. Just past the rest area going south is a sign for the Ore Dept Fish & Wild campground. ODF&W doesn’t have many campground but this one is free.

Free camping on Lake Wallula.

Update: There are 4 designated spots for RVs, trailers, and tent campers. However, three large rigs made their own spots across the parking lot from them.

This place is very active. Lots of families came in during the day to swim and cook out. A couple of tents came and went while we were there too. We saw 4 other RVs. One was out by 8am the next morning. The three others didn’t move. They were staying long term. One of the trailers didn’t have a vehicle to move it. We spoke with them. They seemed nice/safe enough. However, even though they have been told to leave by the ranger (before we got there), they don’t seem to be in any hurry.

I was never in any fear of my safety.

Noise level is high. There are trains on both sides of the park. There is also a highway adjacent the the park. Partying is quite common. There are also a lot of dogs and children.

Directions:
One mile east of Umatilla, OR, on Highway 730, and take the McNary Dam Road.

Situated in a pristine setting near the headwaters of the
Wood River, this small campground is only 10 miles
southeast of the south entrance to Crater Lake National
Park. The campground has 10 primitive sites with no water.
Vault toilets are provided. A trail leads from the campground
to the site where the river emerges as a spring bubbling
from a rocky hillside. Good fishing by canoe is immediately
downstream.

Camp near Hult Reservior, where you can spend the afternoon canoeing, warm water fishing, or explore many miles of forest roads. Then, wander through the surrounding mountains to find the Salem District’s Alsea Recreation Area and Back Country Byway. OHV use is limited to open, existing roads.

No boat ramp or motorized boats.

Directions:
From Eugene, Oregon take Highway 99 North for approximately 10 miles to Highway 36. Go west on Highway 36 for about 20 miles. Follow the signs to Horton, taking a right on Horton Road. Follow Horton Road for about 4 miles and then take a right on Lake Creek Road. Hult Reservoir is located about 2 miles down Lake Creek Road on the right.

All roads are paved. Last 2 miles is single lane paved…

Just over it is great trail through Myrtlewood Trees. Directions: From Hwy. 101 in Gold Beach, take Jerry’s Flat Road (just south of Patterson Bridge)- about 10 miles and you’ll see sign and turnoff to the left for both CG and gravel bar. Great spot for solar and satellite access
