Gila National Forest q

Beautiful remote camping. Trail# 94 starts at end of campground.

Located in a remote area of forest and wilderness 30 miles from the Wilderness Ranger District office. This campground is accessible from FR150, and driving approximately .5 miles from the road, across the stream. You will enter an area with a new restroom and a beautiful meadow next to the stream. Pack it in and pack it out. No garbage pickup. No designated campsites.

Directions
30 miles from Wilderness Ranger District office. Take Hwy 35 to MM15 to FR150.Turn right & travel 26 miles over a improved dirt & rock road to Black Canyon Campground. Turn left & travel .5 miles, over a steep stream crossing to the Lower Campground.
Maps are currently being developed for the campsite.

Closest Stores:
The Mimbres Store is the closest store to the campground.It is also the last place to get gas before going to Black Canyon. It is open from 8AM to 5PM.

RV Camping Notes
There is room for campers or trailers. However, with the steep stream crossing, it is not recommended.

Hiking
Trailhead for Trail 94, out & back day hike. 8.6 mile trail into the Gila Wilderness.

Wildlife Watching
Because it is a meadowlike setting, you will see birds, possibly deer, bear & elk.
