A beautiful camping area. The campsites are very well spread out and nearby Glen Falls Trail #8 is a beautiful hike. The lower trail head for it is at the end of FR79C which is walking distance from some of the campsites. Many of the campsites are alongside a stream. Not too far from Highlands.
There are a few dispersed sites in the general area, but the Blue Valley dispersed sites are well maintained and several are large enough for good sized rigs or even group camping. Wilson Lake is a short distance away offering fishing, swimming, a short trail and wildlife viewing and birding.
Directions:
From Highlands, follow NC 28 south about 5.5 miles and turn right onto Blue Valley Rd. (S.R. 1618) at the sign. The pavement will end in a half mile. Continue on. you’re on the correct road. From here, travel another 3.3 miles until you see a Info kiosk at the intersection of another gravel road, this is F.R. #79 “C”. Take “C”. For the next 0.6 miles, you will pass the numerous campsites of Blue Valley Campground.

This was a great site. Glen falls was beautiful. My wife and I just stayed at this site. It was cold the first night, but warmed up after that. The river is clearly visible from the Glen Falls trail. There is one trail side site with a stone fire pit. It was relaxing to get away from everything for a few days. hint- Sprint has cell coverage at the kiosk at the camp entrance. It didn’t seem to work anywhere else. We didn’t find a restroom while we were there so be prepared for a primitive camping experience. Overall a great place to go for camping.
