Dispersed camping in the state forest. The rules are almost the same as in a national forest.
This forest is a bit of a rarity in Pennsylvania because it’s on a fairly flat mountain ridge which makes it easy to travel on the roads and also to find large flat areas suitable for camping.
There seems to be multiple entrance roads. We came in off of US route 30 , about 8 miles east of the Breezewood turnpike exit. Look for Akersville Road on the south side of 30,just west of the summit. This is a one lane gravel road in good condition. There are a few small pull offs soon after you turn onto the road but keep going for almost a mile and you’ll come to a large clearing on the left. It’s hard packed small stone and grass , large enough for any type or size of RV to camp and turn around. We didn’t go any farther but Google Earth shows more clearings just down the road.
Back on US 30, going east again , you’ll come to a picnic area at the summit which has water and pit toilets. This area is closed to camping , however keep following the road in and you be on forest land again. A few miles down this road is a wonderful view point where you can look over a huge valley of farm communities- worth a trip! No camping here either but the road keeps going and from Google Earth views it looks like there are many roads that end in large clearings. We camped in a clearing along the power right of way – this may not be permitted.
The forest is crisscrossed with old roads. Many of them are closed to traffic and are snow mobile , ATV and cross country skiing trails. They’re also good for hiking.
I think that these roads and camping spots would be accessible for almost any type or size of RV but check it out on foot or by car if you have any doubts.

Definitely wonderful place. There’s a small stream nearby if you walk through the Tower trail which is about 500 feet before the place.
