This is Indiana’s oldest state forest (1903). Less than a mile off I-65 at Henryville. This forest is more like a state park than a state forest. It has several stocked lakes and many beautiful spots like the fire tower vista that has a picnic shelter, “On the top of the world.” You can see all the way to Louisville, KY. There are two campgrounds: one is a horse camp. They have pit toilets and water in season. http://www.stateparks.com/clark_washington.html Self check-in stations are located at the entrance to each campground. Located on U.S. Highway 31, 10 miles south of Scottsburg or one mile north of Henryville just off I-65.

We visited this state forest yesterday, 4/19/2010
and it’s terrific. We climbed the fire tower, well,
my hubby did, and we checked out the horsemans’ cpgrd
which is $12 per nite, and we checked out the regular
one that is $8 per nite–wonderful looking, but not
one person. They also have trails, and my hubby went
a bit on one yesterday—I would recommend it to
everyone.
