Clear Creek Reservoir 17 miles north of Buena Vista is free. The lake is great for fishing, All you need is a wildlife habitat stamp age 18-65 for all wildlife areas.

The habitat stamp is $5 if you have a current hunting or fishing license. Otherwise, the stamp is $10. Good for multiple Colorado wildlife management areas.

  1. I believe the original poster meant that camping is free and fishing costs $5/10. Anyone able to clear this up?

  2. bugsy says:

you must buy a habitat stamp to enter the area. the cost is $5.00 if you already have a CO fishing or hunting license or $10 if you you not have a current license…

  3. Mark Lopez says:

Do you guys know where you can make reservations for this campsite?

    • No reservations required. This is a wildlife management area. You’ll need the appropriate habitat stamp and go expecting minimal facilities.

      • Mark Lopez says:

And what do I need to do to get a stamp? Is iy required to stay at the campground?

        • A quick google for ‘colorado habitat stamp’ returned this:

That’s about all the informaton I have. Have fun and let us know how you like it if you camp there!

          edit: tinyurl’d the link.

          • Mark Lopez says:

And does everyone who stays at the campsite need a stamp to stay there or just one person? Do you know how strict they are about having stamps? Thank you for your help.

            • Mark,

There may some misinformation here and elsewhere regarding the habitat stamp for those who are not fishing or hunting. We’ve run across conflicting information. I suggest calling the Division of Wildlife on Monday morning. Their number is: 303-297-1192.
