A number of places to boondock alongside the Columbia River near the lock. Mostly level and even a concrete pad in one spot, and one area has pit toilets. Views of the dam, Mt Hood, swimming access and the hills along the river. There are trains on both sides of the river – which become rather soothing after you get used to them. Even a view site above the tracks. Close to Maryhill Museum, Maryhill State Park and Stonehenge Memorial. There are other boondocking spots visible on the Oregon side of the river too. We had excellent cellphone reception on both AT&T and Sprint.
Very breeze/windy – orient your rig parallel to the river for your best bet.
Directions: Turn off SR 14 at the entrance to the aluminum smelter, then keep going past the plant and turn right when you get to the dam.
