Description: $5/night Primitive, numbered campsites dispersed along a 5-mile section of the lower Cranberry River.

Location: Separate numbered campsites dispersed along the Cranberry River between Big Rock Campground and Cranberry Campground on Forest Road 76.

Directions: From Richwood travel one mile east on State Route 39/55, then 6 1/2 miles north on Forest Road 76. Campsites are numbered 1-11 and dispersed along Forest Road 76.

Facilities: Each site has a picnic table, lantern post, and trashcan. No water or electric is available. One vault toilet is located near sites 7-11. Sites vary in size but a few can accomodate several campers and serve as group camp sites.

Update: Aug 7th, 2011 – It appears that they have started charging for these sites. I have updated the description to reflect that. Also, the forest service’s url for theses sites has changed. I updated that, too.

One Comment about “Cranberry River Dispersed Sites”

  1. Kristi says:

Cranberry River Dispursed sites are NOT FREE. But only 5 bux per night and are huge private sites along a small creek. Water available down at the Cranberry Campground at the end of the road. The sites at Cranberry Campground are 10 bux per night and many equestrians. Follow the url link on this page to the Forest page and click on dispursed camping and fees.
