The campground is part of the parking lot for the gift shop and is less than a mile from the southern entrance to Petrified Forest National Park. This is very convenient because the park doesn’t have a campground. There are actually two associated gift shops , one on each side of the road and both have free campgrounds. Most sites have picnic tables on concrete pads. A few have covered tables. There’s a restroom in the gift shop that can be used when the gift shop is opened. There are electric hookups at most of the sites, available for $10.00 a night, payable at the gift shop but when we were there the electric to the sites was not working and the owner did not know when it would be fixed. There is no water available to fill your fresh water tanks. Very quiet at night.
