This may have been an official primitive campground at one time but now it’s on the Mark Twain National Forest web page as a picnic area. The only thing that’s left of either a campground or picnic area is a pit toilet. The toilet and the dirt roads in are maintained. The road ends in a large flat area , shaded with mowed grass. There’s a small stream that may access the Current River but it looks a little shallow and overgrown.
To get there take US 160 west from Doniphan for 4 miles. Turn right on US 160W-7. Go about 1/2 mile and take the right fork. About 1 mile in turn left to the picnic area. This road is only about .2 miles long but it’s very steep and only one narrow lane. I wouldn’t recommend going down in anything but a pickup camper , van or small C. If you at all concerned , walk it first. There is room to turn around at the intersection. Once down the road there’s plenty of room for any size of RV.
