Is this for real?!?
Check out the website in the listing. Sounds real to me.
Elk City Lake Park only has 4-5 RV pads with electricity, but we were the only RV parked here (Oct 2010). A couple tent campers near the waters edge. I’m sure this place is much busier during the summer, but it was very quiet both days of our stay.
There is no charge to camp at Elk City Lake Park, but a 3 day maximum stay. Wish we had another day as this was a very nice stop, but its time to hit the road again.
Home Is Where We Park
Camped one night here in a tent with my boyfriend on a road trip. Spoke with the Elk City Parks Dept first who were very nice and confirmed it is free to stay, first-come first-served. Only down-side was that they didn’t allow open fires. They did have a grill for cooking with charcoal. Toilets also rough with no running water. View of the lake was nice. It was quiet and there was only 1 RV here at the electric sites. It was also very windy for a tent in October.
Very lovely, quiet campsite. One error in the Freecampsite description: there IS electric, but NO drinking water.
This place is very real; I am here now. Please do come prepared, no drinking water, no showers. Beautiful view of lake, nice campsites free electric for three nights. Elk City has several attractions, numerous restaurants and an inviting atmosphere. Take exit 38 off I-40, south on OK 6 about two miles. Watch for tiny Boat launch sign. Turn right, follow signs through subdivision to Elk Lake. It is worth the hunt.
