Facilities: The Evangeline camp has vaulted restrooms. There are no trash receptacles so please bring out what you bring in. There is no water available at this site so be sure to bring plenty of your own.
Directions: From Alexandria, drive west on Louisiana Highway 28 for 8 miles to Forest Road 273. Turn left (south) on Messina Road (FR 273) and go 4 miles to the signed camping area and Wild Azalea Trailhead on the right.
Fees: The Evangeline Camp has no fees.
Hiking and biking on the Wild Azalea National Recreation Trail is accessible from the Evangeline Camp. Connections to the Lemotte Creek Trail, Lakeshore Trail and Indian Ridge Trail are also possible from here.

I was just at this site recently, and as of January, 2012, it requires a $5 daily fee, and is for horse camping only.
