Take Trails End Road 1.75 miles west out of Mackinaw City. Turn left on an unnamed dirt/gravel road 50 feet before the stop sign at Wilderness Park Drive. Follow the road to six numbered sites. The shoulders of the road are sandy and the turnaround at the end is tight, but I had no trouble with my 24′ travel trailer. The sites are mostly out of site of each other, are right next to beautiful French Farm Lake and are free.
Not for big RV’s

Nice tip – this place would not be easy to find otherwise!
The unnamed dirt road is pretty much right there at the Wilderness Drive intersection.
We only saw four numbered sites, but the road may continue beyond the boat launch where we turned around. People were camped at unnumbered sites also.
Got a working Verizon connection here.
This is RUSTIC camping. We made a bench at camp #1. You are encouraged to sign it as you pass by. There is a paper to fill out and post (if there is forms available) otherwize, the state ranger will come by eventually (1x a week) and take licence plate & name to keep a record just incase of anything. Drawback? NO GARBAGE FACILITIES so pack out what you pack in and all is well. We LOVED it and so did our kids & kitties
