Free boondocking site in Lake Mead National Recreation Area. 15 day limit posted but does not seem to be enforced. Some homeless spilling out from Las Vegas. Restrooms at entrance; dumpsters.
A permit is required to access this site as it is inside the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. A federal interagency pass will get you in. Otherwise, fees are $5 for 7 days or $20 for the year.

BE PREPARED FOR SERIOUS WINDS. I stayed at Gov. Wash for about 1 week. It is true about the homeless, it is true about not seeming to enforce the time limits. It is a National Park entrance so it cost to get in. We had a pass. BE PREPARED FOR SERIOUS WINDS. Also, don’t leave your pets out unattended. Coyotes come right up to the RVs…someone must have been feeding them.
Just finished a stay out at Government Wash. We woke up to a rain storm that was passing through on out last day. It was windy during our stay. It did shake the TT a little. About 30-35 folks were camped/parked out there, ranging from cars, tents, to half million dollar plus motor homes. Some were a bit worn out looking. Seemed like quite a few folks were living there, on a semi permanent basis. Never saw a Park Ranger the 4 days we were there. There were some fishing spots that you could drive/walk to. We caught few catfish, and stripers, which we threw back. However, those spots are also used by locals from Las Vegas to launch their small water crafts. If you were in their way, they got in your way. I would suggest any RVers visiting the area to up grade their security measures a little. Just be more aware of what’s going on. There was group of folks parked there with a sign that said “Maintenance Volunteers”. There site and RVs were pretty messy. We filled up 3 large trash bags of blown in, left over trash around our site. We left it cleaner than we found it. Plenty of areas to set up your RV, but none are close to the shoreline. There were flush toilet restrooms available, and for the most part they were clean. Not sure where the nearest dump station is, but I am sure there are some with in 20 miles of the area. We were heading to Valley of Fire State Park, which does have a $10 dump station if you are not camping there.
Just finished s stay here they r rite about the homeless and the volunteers there camp stirs were messy. They don’t enforce the camp to much if u get on there good side they would probly let u live there. But it was a beautiful place to camp mountains all the way around u.
