We camped for the night in this forest but I think that we broke a few rules. I discovered this afterward when I found the information on the forest website. We just drove in a little over a mile and camped in the first clearing that we came upon but we should have stopped at the forest head quarters first and paid for a permit. Camping is $10.00 a night for up to 6 people. According to the website there are 100 dispersed primitive sites. These are just clearings in the forest. There are no facilities of any kind. The website has a map link with all of the campsites and roads well marked.
The head quarters are at exit 64 on I-68. We entered the forest on 15 Mile Creek Road at exit 62. This road looks like one of the main roads to get to many of the campsites. It’s dirt but maintained. It’s pretty narrow but wide enough to allow traffic to travel in both directions with caution. I wouldn’t recommend it for anything but truck campers ,vans or small Cs. Very quiet , shady , dense undergrowth makes it difficult to camp anywhere but the official spots.
