Normally I wouldn’t recommend a rest area but these two , west and east bound , are better than many campgrounds. The picnic shelters are spaced very far apart on dirt roads to the east and west of the restrooms. Each road ends in a loop for easy turn arounds. I don’t remember the official time allowed for stopping but I think that it’s at least 24 hours. Check it out on Google Earth-very clear images.

One Comment about “I-10 Rest Area mile marker 53 east bound”

  1. Sam Hagins says:

We stay 1/27/2011 and it was even better than I hoped. Three sided “lighted” building covering the picnic tables. Great Verizon air-card and AT&T phone coverage. I-10 traffic noise is the only downer but even it was not bad.

Sign says no longer than 24 hours.
