Forest Road 74: This forest road is a little less remote than other roadside camping opportunities. Off Route 9, it dead-ends a couple miles in. Campsites are found unevenly spaced along the way.

I have only good things to say about this spot. We didn’t see anybody else, totally secluded (although we did come in the middle of the week). Beautiful woods all around, even a beaver pond. Track leads to a network of snowmobile trails, and there’s a bunch of cool day hikes within a few minutes’ drive. There are abundant streams around. Be careful to boil your water!
