Lewis Park provides free camping for RV with hookups and dump station. Public swimming pool located near by. We spend a very restful night there on our way from NM to the Black Hills. June 6, 2008. A very nice park, camping sites. Here are some directions: North Bound traffic, after getting off I-25 at the first exit to Wheatland, turn right at the first traffic light follow this street to the second traffic light and turn right, go one block turn right again follow this street to the park. South Bound Traffic after getting off I-25 at first exit to Wheatland, keep on the road until you get to the first traffic light, turn left, go one block, turn right following this street to the park.

We stayed at this park 5-31-09 to 6-4-09. There is a 3 day limit but if they are not busy and you ask you may be able to stay an extra night. Fill your tank with water before parking! They take donations to operate this park.
Easier directions are:
Northbound take first exit, turn right go to stop sign, turn right again go to Cole RD (next st.) turn left go to 9th st. (bottom of small hill) turn left just past Recreation DR. is the entrance.
Southbound take second exit take left go across the Interstate to stop sign the follow above directions.
This is a wonderfully quite park, Just don’t tell anyone!
This park is a great find, but it’s a little unnerving to be there when no one else parks there at night. It’s in an isolated area near the railway tracks. We had someone pound on our trailer door at midnight, and then disappear. We called the police, who showed up in a couple of minutes and did a patrol through the park. Whoever our midnight visitor was, he never came back. Other than this alarming experience, it’s the best bargain we ever found. Wide spaces with electricity, shaded by giant cottonwoods. Just be cautious about being the only occupant of the park at night.
I went to this park, but did not stay. There is electric, a playground, and a few sites with picnic tables. Just remember that there is a 3 day limit.
