Nice little park just 5 miles south of Winslow , Arizona. The main camping area sits above Clear Creek and is not the most scenic area but has paved pull through sites. There are also a few picnic tables under shelters along the creek that are much nicer and more private. We think that camping is okay at these also. There’s a fulltime ranger residence at the campground whom we never saw except as he drove in and out.
The campground has picnic tables , grills and a bathroom with flush toilets and non-potable water.
Winslow is a small town but has a good variety of businesses which include a Walmart , Safeway ,hardware store,auto parts stores and also a Flying J with a dump station and potable water.
The campground was almost empty in early April.
From Winslow, take Rt. 87 South to Highway 99 and turn left just before the bridge.

The reason you do not see much of the ranger at McHood is because he is not fulltime. During the day he works as a Route Manager for Waste Management. He and his wife are exremely friendly and helpful. We have stayed here in May 2010 and loved the place. Close to town, dump station/water (flying J now charging.) We found this place an excellent place to stay and will return anytime we come through Winslow. Keep in mind this place is FREE – Not too many of these left.
