Probably the closest free camping to Zion National Park, this isn’t likely to be a solitary experience, but it’s pretty nice! Just before mile marker 24 on highway 9. A few options for bigger rigs (maybe 35′?), many for smaller ones. A sign at the entrance warns of soft sand and the location in the floodplain of the Virgin River. We were there at high runoff and saw no sign of flooding, but perhaps it happens. Serviceable Verizon signal.

I just stayed here and loved it. Got a spot right next to the river. It is beautiful and the sound of the river is relaxing. You can hear the road, which is a minus.

This campsite has been closed by BLM.

  4. Lee says:

Please note: As of the 2010 winter flood, Mosquito Cove has been closed indefinitely to camping.
