BLM site:
The recently redesigned campground features seven individual campsites, a group campsite, and a day use area ideal for fishing and picnicking. Campsites feature fire rings, tables and barbecues. Barbecues and picnic tables are available at the day use site.

Those with walking difficulties can fish from an accessible fishing pier, while kayakers can take advantage of a specially designed launch site.

There are no fees for the day use site. Fees for individual campsites are $8 per night and the group site is $12 nightly. Camping is on a first-come, first served basis, with a limit of 14 days. Reservations are not accepted.

The campground is five miles west of Fall River Mills along State Highway 299.

Linda Hylton:
Pit River Campground is about 15 miles east of Burney (4 miles SW of Fall River Mills) off of SR-299 (the turn off to the campground is about 7.5 miles east of the SR-299/SR-89 junction, and is at the end of a two-lane passing zone).

It has 7 single sites and 1 group area plus a day area with picnic tables and BBQs, a boat ramp/fishing/swimming area, plus a fishing pier.

The campground is heavily treed, although most of the sites are situated such that you should be able to get a satellite tuned in (whether TV or Internet), particularly if the dish is on a tripod.

Most of the sites should be able to accommodate a large RV. Site #7 is quite small, and another site (can’t remember whether it’s #1 or #2) has a low limb that *might* preclude a tall RV getting into, but other than that, you should have no problem.

The campground is right on the Pit River, so you can fish there. Or, there are lots of lakes and other rivers close by in which to fish.
