Thedford is on 2 just off US 83. This is a small city park just west of Thedford on 2. There is a small sign offering camping with free water and electricity. There are several back in spaces with electric outlets. There is a small shelter with picnic tables. The railroad runs just behind the park so the noise level is a little high. Lots of trees and shade. It was deserted except for some local kids who dropped by briefly when I was there. Donations invited

One Comment about “Thedford City Park”

  1. My wife and I, seniors who camp, stopped at this city park in 2008. The intense horn-blowing railroad locomotives passing by every 15 minutes or so, all night, kept us awake. Other than that, the cement slab we put our sleeping gear on, with the overhead roof, kept the rain off us, …that part was appreciated. …as was the water…..and ability to obtain a bit of electricity from the nearby lamppost outlet, to recharge my laptop computer.
There was no one else at this park…..but were signs of it being used by, perhaps, teenagers, for …’romantic outings…’. Due to the railroad noise, I can’t recommend this place for overnight, if you intend to try to sleep. The railroad is quite close (I walked down the next morning to see), and the locomotive drivers seem to delight in blowing their loud horns to announce their presence…for what reason I could not tell from a long look in both directions down the track.
