Daniel Boone National Forest

We stayed here this past fall. We stayed for about a week. There was only one other site occupied, and it was for only one night (though they left enough trash for a week). Ranger drove through pretty often. A number of folks used the area during the day, mostly to swim or fish in the adjacent river. There was a vault toilet. Each site had fire pits with bbq tops. Rivers are way too dry for any boating.

We spent most of our time ridge walking, searching for caves, and poking our heads into possible leads. Definitely want to go back and explore some more possibilities.

It is a nice area but the scenery only gets a 3, because it isn’t stunning.

If your rig is heavy do not come up 89 from Livingston!
We went this way originally and were planning on staying at S-tree. We had to turn around, in the dark, at a single lane 3 ton bridge. Not fun. I was a little angry, because I had called the ranger ahead of time to make sure the roads would handle us.

From DBNF website:

This campground is located near War Fork Creek. The campground has vault toilets, a picnic area, and a playing field. No drinking water is available. Hiking, OHV, mountain bike and horseback riding are allowed on portions of the Sheltowee Trace. Each campsite has a gravel parking space, tent pad, fire ring, picnic table and lantern pole. There are fifteen sites. Please pack out your trash.
