The Valley Of The Gods is a personal favorite. I am totally enamored by the stark, desert beauty! It is called “the little Monument Valley”, and it is, but with very few visitors in contrast to the big valley to the south. This is desert boondocking at it best! It is a great boondocking site for an overnight between Monument Valley/Grand Canyon/ Canyon Lands/Arches Nat’l Parks. One night or five – it is a relaxing treat!
South of Bluff, Utah on highway 163, or north of Mexican Hat. The VOTG Road is fairly well maintained, but only during dry weather. There are no services, but several vehicles a day do drive the road so you aren’t totally alone – much. I like entering from the road nearer to Bluff where you’ll find boondocking sites all along, but the best are about half way just before the big dog leg in the general area marked on the map below.

This is a great location if you want (need?) desert solitude, and the landscape is spectacular. I just spent two days out there. Wish I could have stayed longer, but it’s early June as I write this … just a bit too warm in the afternoons. But VOTG is definitely on my short list when cooler weather comes.
