The White Mountain Road is just out of & north of Green River, Wyoming. It is called the “Wild Horses or Mustang Loop” for you stand a good chance of seeing some of the west’s most dramatic wildlife, wild mustang horses! (See web link). We have never failed to see mustangs up here at any time of the year. If wiuld horses don’t catch your imagination nothing will!
The road is nicely graded gravel. A steep, but manageable climb up from the Green River/I 80 end, not so steep from the northern end at US 191. The road was made for oil & gas exploration trucks and you might run into one today. IT IS MUDDY AND SLIPPERY WHEN WET!!!
Numerous boondock pullouts along the entire thirty-miles. Views are wide-open and spectacular – 70 miles or more! Overlooks – a long, long way down!
Also a nice boondock for those traveling along Interstate 80 and don’t want the hustle and bustle of Green River.

Sorry I goofed on the title! White Mt is near Green River and ROCK SPRINGS, Wyoming, not Riverton
Beautiful but windy at all times of the year, the road comes out at 14 mile. (14 miles north of Rock Springs on US-187) Many miles of ATV and 4 wheeling terrain, there are shortcuts to Rock Springs only for dirtbikes and ATV’s.
Every place you can camp in Wyoming is “windy”!
