The campground is a field with some large shade trees and great views of the surrounding mountains.
From Carey, drive west on US 20 about 13 miles. Look for the Hayspur hatchery sign.

Grassy meadow area occasionally mowed. Decent picnic tables and fire rings. Lovely sky at night.

A great spot when traveling nearby. We have always felt safe. Very quiet and love to hear and see the wildlife. Busy on weekends but can usually find room early to mid week.

Stayed here in a 11 foot-long Truck Camper (RV). Sniffingwoman would stay here again.

Easy in, easy out. Large, flat field with some shade trees. Clean, but some weeds around fire rings. Got 90Mbps on Verizon and 10Mbps on T-Mobile. Definitely recommend this spot.

Stayed here in a 39 foot-long Trailer (RV). Scott Scoble would stay here again.

Free camping, a lot of sites, fire rings, picnic tables, water hydrants, pit toilets, level sites. There is a lake for trout fishing. Hatchery personnel maintain an on-site public campground, a Family Fishing Water (Gavers Lagoon), and a trophy stream fishery. Many people visit, camp, and fish Gavers Lagoon, Butte Creek, Loving Creek, or Silver Creek (across the highway). Gavers Lagoon is a great place for physically challenged individuals and children to fish for trout. Gavers Lagoon is stocked regularly from May through September with rainbow trout and has a six-fish limit with no gear restrictions.

Contrary to what the description says, this campground is NOT open year-round. We did not realize this when we arrived at 11pm and didn't notice the sign indicating that it was closed, but the following morning one of the workers at the hatchery informed us that the campground doesn't open until around Mother's Day.

Regardless, the area is quite lovely. The campsites are nice, with a picnic table and fire pit at each. There's also a nature trail and lots of birds to see in the area. The surrounding landscape is quite beautiful. If we have the chance, we'll definitely return when the campground is actually open!

Stayed here with a passenger vehicle and a tent. teljuiceme would stay here again.

I love camping here. Large grassy area with trees. Two outhouses, one by is handicapped accessible. No hook-ups, but has potable water faucet. Guaranteed to catch a fish in the pond. Not far from Sun Valley, Idaho. Sometimes you hear elk. A lot of birds.

Stayed here in a 21 foot-long Class C (RV). Meandering Moose would stay here again.

This is essentially a big field with somewhat defined campsites along the road and room for interpretation along the other side. It is really easy to access, good cell signal, and fairly busy. There were a number of other campers there when we arrived, some of whom seemed like long-timers - and one camp host. Generators were common but no "over nighters" during our stay. There is a ton of fishing opportunities of you're into that, otherwise the nature trail makes for a nice little walk.

We camped over on the far side from the road (which is really next to the main road but with a row of growth between it) and nestled into a tree grove in the corner of the field. This is probably the best spot by our judgement.

There isn't much else to say about this campsite, it is a very accessible and utilitarian site to get some work done for a few days while you travel across the Goodale's Cutoff region of Idaho. We would highly recommend the Crater of the Moon National Monument nearby.

Stayed here in a 32 foot-long Class C (RV). Nomadic Neighbors would stay here again.

Great campsite. Plenty of shade trees. Only a few campers when I was there. Visited Craters of the Moon NP and Silver Creek Preserve. All recommended. Very friendly people. There is a donation box. Also recommended.

The place is really nice and easy to get to, just 6-7 miles on Hwy 20 from jct 75 and 13 miles from Carey. There is enough space for at least 20 big rigs. Peaceful, quite with nice views. It's also a great spot to see Craters of the Moon if someone is not heading further east

The directions are solid. Fine little camp. Big grass field and spill-over field. At the time of our visit, there were probably 40 or more large trailers and still plenty of room. Central water tap. Two pit toilets. Good fishing if that's what you are into. A very pretty place.
