Bumpy road but worth returning

Camping area is about 5.4 miles down Shea Road. The first 4 miles is paved but enough potholes to make you question your life choices. After the cattle grate, the road is beautifully paved and there are plenty of open fairly flat graveled areas to park a camper. This is a popular spot for ATVs so you hear them throughout the day. It is mostly quiet during the hours it is dark. We stayed in our 30 ft bumber pull Jayco. Even with the rutted road, we would stay again.

Stayed here in a 30 foot-long Trailer (RV). Jessica A would stay here again.

If you are into quad-runners or dirt bikes, this place is for you. I
Am not! Watch where you go as much of this place is sand or loose gravel. Most sites are close to wroqd and there was a lot of traffic until after dark.

Stayed here in a 24 foot-long Class C (RV). steve would not stay here again.

Good parking along road from mile post 1 to mp6. Be very careful of loose areas the sand is deep. Popular atv area and off-road races held here annually. Tread lightly, leave no trace. Class c or higher and vehicles with trailers look before you get stuck.cell coverage is better at mile 1.

Stayed here in a 18 foot-long Trailer (RV). Rob would stay here again.

Shea Rd is open desert BLM camping outside of Parker, AZ. There are tons of spots on both sides of the road after you get a few miles outside of town, wide open desert with no shade to speak of. Great for 4x4s and ATV's, this spot is really popular with the offroad community. Very dusty and sometimes windy in the winter.

5 bar service on Verizon and ATT, No signal on Tmobile

Great easy level spot for boondocking with horses

Reviewed November 15, 2017

This campsite was everything we hoped for. We travel the western US with 2 horses and our dogs so we boondock most nights. We have a 40 foot rig with a dually truck and 35 ft RV with horse stalls, so we need a big turnaround and some peace and quiet. We were worried about the road description but it was fine. Crossed the cattle guard an in about a mile or so found the huge lot on the left side of the road. We even found a tree we could use to highline our horses.

We paid our fee picking up a bag of misc trash but it wasn't bad. Plenty of fire rings but bring wood. No water anywhere but we carry 110 gallons in the bed of our truck. We are moving through to points further south and will definitely stay here again.

Horse people - be sure to scatter any manure around the shrubs to keep this area lovely! Don't give us a bad rep,
The coyotes and dark skies were magnificent.
.

Stayed here in a 40 foot-long Fifth Wheel (RV). The Dog and Pony Show would stay here again.

Close to town, lots of trails and plenty of room.

Reviewed January 6, 2017

The road in is only really rough for a little bit. We did 50 mph pulling our trailer. The camping areas begin just a bit after the cattle guard. There are plenty of campsites adjacent to the paved road. Most are a mixture of gravel and sand. Though, some spots do have soft sand so be mindful. There a plenty of spots far from the paved road, but you will need a capable rig to reach them. The fauna is mostly a mix of creosote and palo verde. There isn't really any shade to speak of so sun worshippers will be happy.

Verizon was usable for browsing but not streaming. Att was blazing fast.

Stayed here in a 18 foot-long Trailer (RV). hitekhomeless would stay here again.

The road from the train crossing to the cattle guard (4 miles) is a bit rough but not bad. After the cattle guard it becomes very smooth.

Shea Road BLM 14 day camping area just southeast of Parker, AZ. The road from the train crossing to the cattle guard (4 miles) is a bit rough but not bad. After the cattle guard it becomes very smooth. A very large area with good Verizon in some areas away from the mountains. No DTV signal. Be careful of deep sand. Test it before you drive it.

Paul Smithers would stay here again.

Agree with all the comments from other posters. ATV / UTV use is sporadic. We have been here almost a week and there was no one else when we arrived, since then several others have set up, more than enough room. Parker is a good size town and close by for any needs, auto and grocery stores etc. Desert Bar is about 30 minutes away, well worth going to.

You didn't read the earlier reviews? None here, dump, clean and flush tanks in Parker. Please see https://rvdumpsites.net/ to find dumpsites, nationwide. It's bad, too.

We stayed here the end of Feb beginning of March 2015. There were several other campers in the area, but we had a nice big area to ourselves. It was easy access to a spot for any size rig. We have Verizon and had a good signal.

I stayed on Shea Road off Hwy 95 just South of Parker January 2015 during the Parker off road racing weekend. Lots of camping right off the road ..many with fire rings. Any size rig can find a spot with no problems. Some firewood can be collected but it's mostly very small twigs/limbs. You will probably want to purchase some before going in if you want a good fire, or if you'll be staying a few days. Great sunsets, area was clean and not much 'camp litter'. Short drive into Parker for supplies.

Tried camping here, but the road in was a lot bumpier than I expected. It looks better than it is and my rig could use some suspension work so I had to turn around. The proximity to Parker is attractive though so perhaps I will try again when my ride is in better shape. Just writing this as a heads up to people who don't want to put their RV through a rough ride.

I stayed here off and on over the 2012-2013 winter season. It is not a bad place at all. Only 5 miles from Parker and all paved roads up to the camping area. Yes some of the pavement is a bit old and rough but nothing major.

Plenty of atv action on the weekends but the trails are away from the camping areas. Plenty of rock fire rings have been built over the years so it is easy to pick a spot.

The biggest issue I saw was people getting stuck in the sand as the try to wander too far back for more privacy. Be sure if this is what you want to do, get out and walk the area before you drive. It is very had to get unstuck in the sand so beware.

It is only 30 mile up to Lake Havasu and the river is within 7 miles. Very quiet 90% of the time and although there is a technical limit of 14 day stay Nobody ever enforced it. Many campers were there all winter.

Easy parking, even for the biggest rigs. Room for many rigs. Fairly level. Some garbage and broken glass left behind, so plenty of opportunity to 'take more than you brought.' Moderate to heavy day-use activity - ATVs, motorcycles, general camping road traffic (no through traffic).

First few miles of road are rough, but very passable. You'll just want to take it slow. This is Colorado Indian Nation land; don't park here without purchasing a permit. Continue on to cattle guard, which is where BLM land begins.

No apparent camphosts. You will almost certainly be within sight and sound distance of several other groups.

Good 3G signal if you stay slightly back from hills.

About 7 miles from downtown Parker.

I'm here right now! Had to get away from the foot of the mountain where the road swings south to get a good Verizon signal.

Quiet, a fresh breeze, and an amazing sunset...
