Park has 28 sites (primitive) and is located on a creek. A covered bridge crosses the creek. A boat ramp and picnic tables are provided.
Directions: From Columbia AL, take AL Hwy 52 East cross river into Georgia, and follow signs into Coheelee Park.
I made the mistake of driving down here from nc, only to discover they no longer allow camping:/
It seems like a beautiful place to camp. The park is run by the county, and here is the number I finallly dug up to speak with someone in charge. 2297234304
They may reopen the park to camping at some point, , but I would call the number first and find out so you don't repeat my mistake.

Park closed :-(
This park has been closed until further notice due to storm damage. Heavy rains have collapsed the bank and we were told its a safety hazard for people to be there.

Worst place ever , toilet paper laying all over the place . trash bens over flowin . holloring all night .load trucks and bikes reving thier engines all night . nightmare

The view from some of the campsites were beautiful, but there were quite a few locals driving through during the day trying to find company. I'm pretty reclusive but they were nice people for the most part. Apparently it gets pretty busy on the weekend but luckily I was there during the week.

I did not see 28 sites but still decent. No facilities at all but thats really the way I like it. Some of the sites are real close together so if they were all full and you didn't know the folks beside you, it might be a little close. Access to the river is limited and not real easy to get to with the exception of one spot at the beginning which gets a lot of use by the looks of the trash pile. There is quite a bit of trash everywhere. I hope future campers will take with them what they bring. I wouldn't be too quick to blame vandalism and trash on locals or kids. Do the right thing people and teach your children and others what is right. Overall, an enjoyable place to relax.

We stayed here for 2 nights earlier this week. It is a beautiful setting right on the banks of the Chattahoochee! The sites are large and most of them have a picnic table and lantern post. A lot of the picnic tables are broken and the trash cans located in the area were all full. Local (I assume kids) ruin the place with beer bottles and other trash. We were the only people camping in the park and it was so nice and quiet. We were in the very last spot on the river and quite a few vehicles would pull in and turn around. Not sure if they were locals checking on the place but some of them were kinda sketchy. No running water or bathrooms but totally do-able. The covered bridge is just down the road a bit. Locals did a number on the bridge with graffiti so now you are unable to go on it due to bars all around it. Damn kids! We want to go back and stay for longer than 2 days!

Lots of room. We visited in early april and it was quiet with only 2 other campers. Big river with lots of water moving.

I spent this past weekend here. Quiet for the most part, although there was one couple a few sites away that were loud for a few hours. They were the only other campers there. The setting is pretty... right on the Chattahoochee River. This park is not well maintained... garbage cans were full and almost half the picnic tables were broken. Be aware that there are no restrooms or running water. On the second day I went to the Blakely Fire Department and they let me fill up my water jug. All in all it was a pleasant experience and I plan to go back. Can't beat the price!

Is this place friendly for a group of people to camp near one another? I have a group of friends and I looking for a place to relax and have some fun and wondering about this place. Is it right on the water? Thank you for any input.

It's been about three years since we have been there but I seem to remember a couple of campsites that were close together and would be good for a small group. Don't quote me though. It's best to visit or give this number a ring: 229-723-3741 for more accurate info

This campground is not on the creek but is on the Chattahoochee river. To bad the local idiots litter the grounds so badly. It's such a beautiful place.

my wife and i have "pitched tents" in every state from georgia to texas, but coheelee creek park is one of our favorite places to camp, you only a few miles from grocery stores and convenience stores, this place is not very crowded, with plenty of room to explore, and let the puppies run free, we haven't had any problem finding fire wood, or shaded places to make camp, on the down side there are no indoor restrooms for her, and the security is NONE, it is usually quiet and secluded, we recommend this place for someone who would like to get away and "find themselves for a few days, for the cost it can't be beat.

Bullshit fuckin nasty as hell . load as fuck never will come back here and no security is right fuckin rednecks hollorin all night and bullshit . terrible fuckin place
