After a LONG day of driving and getting to a first come first serve campsite that was completely packed, we were not sure what to do. The neighborhood where Walmart is located has a HOA that doesn't allow RV's to park overnight, the usual (Cabela's, rest stops, etc), were all pretty far away, everywhere was fully booked... BUT... Old Ajo BLM land was our savior. There is LOTS of space to park, access is easy - we are almost 60' long and were able to navigate in with ease, the land is level and the area is clean. We felt totally safe here and did not see any long term residents. The downsides are that the site is located between two relatively busy roads so there is some traffic noise - but surprisingly it was not too loud.

A great place to bondoking. I was here for 3 days in March. Very quite and safe. I would be back again.

Dumped Tires and Desperation
Reviewed January 31, 2022
Looks like some locals decided to use the place for a dump site. I’m here during the gem shows. It’s packed. Seems like there’s some desperate souls here and a bunch of snowbirds. Seems safe enough, but I did a walk with the dog and it feels that everyone has their guard up.
Stayed here in a 22 foot-long Skoolie (RV). Danjo would not stay here again.

Welp, I’m on night 3.
I got a better look at the place in the morning of the first stay. It’s not so bad. Hate the dump site part.
Wow! Thanks to this website, I found this camp spot. After hitting Tucson during the gem show & all campgrounds booked (well except 1- KOA- $122/NIGHT. YEP! $122.00 a night) I thought to check out this website. I have played around with it in the past 2 years & haven't really use it. NOW I'm very happy that I checked it out. Have spent 2 nights there (boondocking) & have 1 more night on the agenda while touring Tucson area. OK, area is BLM, you are allowed 14 days there. No dumping trash, no hookups, but a nice level area that gets a lot of use. While we were there, there were a lot of other people around. Felt safe. Level area. A little road noise but the price was right! Hope this helps someone. Safe journeys!

Tons of space, fairly clean though there were some areas where trash had been dumped. Lots of road noise until 12 or 1 am. Hard ground so a bit difficult to get tent stakes in.
Stayed here with a passenger vehicle and a tent. Shawn McCausland would stay here again.

Whether you just need to know where to camp nearby or you want to plan a free camping road trip, we've got you covered. You can simply use your smart phone's GPS to find camping near you or even use our trip planner to plan your route from coast to coast.
Our community provides the best free camping information available. Free campgrounds can be hard to find. Freecampsites.net makes it easy. We give you a simple, map based search engine to find free and cheap camping areas. Community reviews and ratings provide you with up to date information and help you select the best camp site for your next camping trip.
This is a platform for sharing campgrounds and camp sites you have discovered. We are community driven, and while we will be adding many free camping spots, we hope that you will add some of your favorite camping places as well. By sharing camping information freely, we can all spend less time researching campgrounds, spend less money, and more time camping. If everyone contributes a few campsites, we'll all have more places to go camping.
Please come back and let us know what you find! User reviews help other campers decide on their next camping destination. The more information you have, the more informed your decisions.
Whether you enjoy tent camping, car camping or RV camping, our goal is to help you find the best places to go camping. We believe that free camping areas are often the most beautiful and peaceful camp sites. Our focus is on public lands. You own these lands and you are entitled to use them. We especially like camping on Forest Service land, BLM (Bureau of Land Management) areas, WMA's (Wildlife Management Areas) and county or city parks. We hope you enjoy the same style of camping.
We are not actively seeking Wal-Marts, truckstops or other parking lots and will not be adding very many of these. There are enough Wal-Mart and truck stop directories out there already. However, if a member of the community finds one of these locations to be useful for overnight RV parking and creates an entry, we may approve the listing.
