This is one of the cleanest campgrounds I've been to in a long time. My dad & I stayed here over Veterans' Day weekend & really enjoyed it. It's incredibly quiet with 360 degree views. Full water&electric sites are only $10/night with the America Beautiful pass. The campground is built up for horse camping.

Stayed here in a 20 foot-long Truck Camper (RV). nmhiker389 would stay here again.

Full hookups are for water and electric only,$20.00 night, no sewer at camp sites. Sewer dump station available $30.00. Picnic tables and fire rings at some locations plus stalls for horses. Nice and quiet place except for the guy running the weed eater and lawn mower at 7:30 a.m. on a Monday morning.

Stayed here in a 30 foot-long Trailer (RV).

No longer a free campground. All sites have full hookups as far as I can tell. It looks like sites are now $20. Easy access for any type of rig. Very horse-friendly with pens and stable available.

Stayed here in a 20 foot-long Passenger Vehicle. Ken Gresham would not stay here again.

I have stayed here many times and it's good for BLM as the vaulted toilets are cleaned as far as I can tell. The deli in town that serves Mexican food is good too. The star gazing is good on a clear night. Very quiet usually and tent camping or car camping is free. Only costs you if you use electricity. Only 30 amp plugs. I live about 3 hrs away and come here a few times a year to get away.

Stayed here with a passenger vehicle and a tent. William Holloway would stay here again.

Amazed this place does not get used more with about 50 miles of very nice unpaved road and 90 miles of horse/bike/hike trails. ATVs are welcome on the unpaved roads with some challenging sections of road. The horse folks are solid gold and the BLM takes care of the place. All sorts of game to include elk, deer, antelope, turkey, horned owls and bear. Frèe camping, clean pit toilets with all the TP you would require. Theyre looking for a camp host. Twenty two dollars a day with a campsite including water sewer propane and electric.

Stayed here in a 20 foot-long Trailer (RV). Bill would stay here again.

No pottable water.
Quiet RV parking lot sites that back up to the equestrian sites. Third drive in takes you to dirt equestrian sides that share power poles with the RV sites in the Gravel lot.covered tables and vaulted toilets.
Horses seem to be there often and where there when I was there. Their digested oats and hay are everywhere. The water is labeled with bright yellow signs as non pottable and not fit for human consumption. However, you would still have to pay the $5 if you hook up to it.
The best part is that it is just a short distance to the historical fort which must not be missed.
No internet or cell on Sprint.

Stayed here in a 37 foot-long Class C (RV). PBJ 2 Go would stay here again.

Not a campsite, more like a gravel parking lot with a pit toilet

If you like great views, hikes from your campground, short drives to historic towns and Fort Stanton and being away from crowds, this is your campsite. Prices are accurate/affordable. Hookups user friendly. Sites are gravel. Vault toilet clean. 1 other camper each of two nights we stayed. Never met the campground host, but there rig is on the site. Stars are so close! Yes a wide open RV parking lot with just what one needs to simply enjoy the wide open space and mountain views.

Stayed here in a 24 foot-long Class C (RV). Hiker would stay here again.

Very easy to find. Nice sign right out front. Paved road to the grounds, gravel in grounds.
Looks like they are making improvements to the grounds. A few small trees, a couple picnic shelters, vault toilets and a camping loop away from the road.

There are several sites with water, looks like 4 with electric and water, and several dry spots.
Gentle hills and a great view.

Prices are accurate.

Stayed here in a 38 foot-long Fifth Wheel (RV). Woody would stay here again.

This campsite is not for you if you want privacy or want to be smack in the middle of nature. When you turn off Highway 380 to 220 you come accross it quite quickly BUT it doesn't look like a campground (looks like a parking lot/trial head which it is) and you don't see a ROB JAGGERs sign. It is very easy to pass by and assume it isn't what you are looking for. If in need of hook-ups you will be parking in a parking lot basically and right next to your neighbor.

We got great help from the BLM host who walked out right as we were about to leave in frutration. We wanted privacy and something more scenic. He directed us around the corner to a wonderful unknown campground where the closed up cave is. This campground was empty (even on 4th of July evening) and had 4-5 covered picnic spots with firepits, awning and picnic tables, where overnight camping was free (but primitive/no hook ups). To get there leave Rob Jagger and go back to 380. Make a left, turn on the night gravel road (1/2 mile?). Follow the road a bit under a mile and when reaching a Y go to the left. The campground is in a small canyon you come upon immediately. We were pulling a vintage camper with an SUV and found the roads very smooth.

Great place! Free and lots of space. If you camp near, you can pay a small amount for water and/or electricity if you choose.
Great riding in the area, and a Fort to visit!

There is camping at the Equestrian Trailhead for people riding horses. Just past the fenced in area turn left through a gate and immediate left again past the Host house. Then just pick a spot wherever you want. Nothing wrong with the price. It was free There are also spaces along the fence that have electric. You have to pay the park host. I believe the charge was $4.00. .
I have an awesome campsite on the BLM land. I can literally see for miles in all directions and the closest other camper is several hundred yards away.
The elevation at Ft Stanton is 6300 ft.
In Capitan there is WIFI at the library there so I caught up on my computer work as well. There is no password so if it is closed you can sit outside in your vehicle and log on as I did.
