Camping is allowed anywhere on the Apalachicola National Forest for a maximum of 14 days, except during general gun season. During General Gun season, camping is only allowed in hunt camps and at developed recreation areas. In the hunt camps, campers may stay from 14 days prior to general gun season to 14 days after general gun season. Hunt Camps are heavily used during hunting season.
Hunting season (General Gun season) dates vary each year but include Thanksgiving weekend (Thursday-Sunday) and December and January. The official dates and designated hunt camps are identified each year in the Apalachicola Wildlife Management Area brochure published by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and available at their website.
Per Rufus's Review: "If you have a big rig DO NOT let your GPS take you on WAKULLA ARRON RD. It gets very narrow and tree covered. There is no place to turn around and you will be scrubbing tree climbs. You can make it through but it ain't pretty."

A basic National Forest campsite. Nothing soecial bout it.
Stayed there during Thanksgiving weekend and there were two villages of hunters with loud generators all night long.
There were two chimical toilets with squich-squich to wash hands.
Would stay there again, but at another time of year.
Stayed here in a 22 foot-long Class B (RV). Ti-Gus would stay here again.

This is a hunt camp, meaning there are no services, not even toilets.

Stayed here in early October. All areas had just been mowed and firewood stacke in various places. ther was NO cellphone signal. Endured 2 1/2 miles of good dirt road getting to this campground, but it was a pleasant, quiet stay in my class c.
Stayed here in a 23 foot-long Class C (RV). James would stay here again.
Basic hunting spot
Big rigs
Cell signal was ok
Lots of small bugs but we made a fire and had no more problems
About 8 miles or so to Walmart
Laundry in town has water
Wakulla LP gas serves motorhomes
MOST IMPORT: If you have a big rig DO NOT let your GPS take you on WAKULLA ARRON RD. It gets very narrow and tree covered. There is no place to turn around and you will be scrubbing tree climbs. You can make it through but it aint pretty.

Whether you just need to know where to camp nearby or you want to plan a free camping road trip, we've got you covered. You can simply use your smart phone's GPS to find camping near you or even use our trip planner to plan your route from coast to coast.
Our community provides the best free camping information available. Free campgrounds can be hard to find. Freecampsites.net makes it easy. We give you a simple, map based search engine to find free and cheap camping areas. Community reviews and ratings provide you with up to date information and help you select the best camp site for your next camping trip.
This is a platform for sharing campgrounds and camp sites you have discovered. We are community driven, and while we will be adding many free camping spots, we hope that you will add some of your favorite camping places as well. By sharing camping information freely, we can all spend less time researching campgrounds, spend less money, and more time camping. If everyone contributes a few campsites, we'll all have more places to go camping.
Please come back and let us know what you find! User reviews help other campers decide on their next camping destination. The more information you have, the more informed your decisions.
Whether you enjoy tent camping, car camping or RV camping, our goal is to help you find the best places to go camping. We believe that free camping areas are often the most beautiful and peaceful camp sites. Our focus is on public lands. You own these lands and you are entitled to use them. We especially like camping on Forest Service land, BLM (Bureau of Land Management) areas, WMA's (Wildlife Management Areas) and county or city parks. We hope you enjoy the same style of camping.
We are not actively seeking Wal-Marts, truckstops or other parking lots and will not be adding very many of these. There are enough Wal-Mart and truck stop directories out there already. However, if a member of the community finds one of these locations to be useful for overnight RV parking and creates an entry, we may approve the listing.
